For nearly 10 years I lead the creation of all the public-facing products for Poynter. This included iterations of the Poynter website, the launch of News University, Poynter’s online learning initiative, and all materials related to the promotion of the nonprofit journalism school. I also had had the opportunity to teach visual journalism and interactive media as an adjunct faculty member, and wrote a column for poynter.org called The Design Desk. In 1997, this was my first job in the online world and taught me the importance of making every mark you make have meaning.
